How we use AI in hiring — and where we draw the line
AI in hiring affects people's livelihoods. We think that obliges us to be specific about what our system does, what it does not do, and who remains accountable.

What Velinto does
- Rank and shortlist candidates against criteria the employer defines
- Surface candidates whose skills match a role, including phrasings a keyword search would miss
- Structure résumé and profile information so it is easier to compare
- Suggest improvements to candidate profiles
- Show the reasoning behind a match or ranking
What Velinto does not do
- Make hiring decisions
- Automatically reject candidates
- Score people on personality, appearance or inferred protected characteristics
- Guarantee a hire, a placement, or any specific hiring outcome
- Claim to be free of bias
Human oversight is structural, not optional
Velinto produces ranked shortlists. It does not produce decisions. Employers review candidates themselves, and every application submitted to a role remains accessible to the hiring team — including applications the system ranked low.
We do not offer an auto-reject feature. This is a deliberate product constraint: a system that filters people out silently removes the possibility of human correction.
On bias
We do not claim our AI is bias-free. No hiring system — human or automated — can honestly make that claim, and vendors who do are overstating what is testable.
What we do instead:
- Match on skills, experience and role context rather than on inferred demographic signals
- Make ranking reasoning visible so employers can question a result
- Keep employers in control of the criteria, so the standards applied are their own and are documented
- Review matching behaviour for patterns that suggest systematic disadvantage, and correct what we find
If you believe a Velinto ranking has treated you unfairly, contact us. We investigate reports of this kind.
Candidate data and consent
Candidates control their own visibility, including hiding their profile from named companies. Profile data is used to match candidates with relevant opportunities and to suggest profile improvements.
- Candidates can export their data at any time
- Candidates can permanently delete their profile and associated data
- Candidate access to Velinto is free and is never conditioned on data sharing beyond what a profile requires
Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
What we do not claim
We do not promise guaranteed hiring outcomes, guaranteed placement, or a specific reduction in time-to-hire. Results depend on your role, your market and your process. Figures shown in product illustrations on this site are sample data for demonstration, not measured performance claims.
Accountability
Employers using Velinto remain responsible for their hiring decisions and for complying with employment law in their jurisdiction. Velinto is a tool that supports a hiring process; it does not replace the employer's legal obligations or judgement.
